Country: Namibia

Fillemon Aupokolo has more than six years of experience in environmental management. Currently, Fillemon is employed at NamWater Ltd as an environmentalist. He is tasked with ensuring that NamWater's water sources are protected and that the company's developments are compliant with Namibia's environmental policies and regulations. In 2020, he mobilized a diverse group of educated young Namibians to halt sand mining activities in his community. Fillemon holds a bachelor's degree with honors in Geography and Environmental Studies. He is a strong believer in protecting water resources, which are limited and scarce in Namibia. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Fillemon plans to integrate what he learned to produce ideas on environmental legal awareness in the community and to protect Namibia's limited water resources by strengthening NamWater's internal policies.
