Transitions: New Roles


Aliki Dragona

Aliki Dragona has accepted a position as faculty director of UC Davis Quarter Abroad and UC Davis Summer Abroad. Most recently she has worked as a lecturer in the University Writing Program at UC Davis, a position she has held since 1990 and has taught UC Davis Summer Abroad programs in Greece for 12 years. She received her Ph.D from the State University of New York at Binghamton.

Linxia Liang

Linxia Liang has been appointed the new administrative director of the Confucius Institute at UC Davis. She will also continue on in her role as the Director of Asian International Programs in the new Office of Global Affairs. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.

                                                                                                                                                                   

Glenn Young

Glenn Young


Glenn Young will serve as the faculty co-director of the Confucius Institute at UC Davis beginning in July 2014. He also serves as a Professor and Food Safety Microbiologist in the department of Food Science and Technology and will be leading a new UC Davis Summer Abroad program in Thailand on Microbiology this summer. He received his Ph.D. from Washington State University in 1993 and has taught and conducted research at UC Davis since 1999.

Andrew Waterhouse


Andrew Waterhouse is serving as the faculty co-director of the Confucius Institute at UC Davis beginning in July 2014. He also serves as a Professor of Enology, served as the Chair of the Department of Viticulture and Enology from 2006-2011 and has taught a UC Davis Summer Abroad Program. He received his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley and has taught and conducted research at UC Davis since 1991.

Transitions: Departures

William B. Lacy

Bill Lacy joined UC Davis in 1999, as the first Vice Provost of University Outreach and International Programs. He will leave this position in July of 2014 and return to the UC Davis faculy as a professor of sociology in the Department of Human Ecology. Upon his departure, the office will be renamed the Office of Global Affairs. A new vice provost of Global Affairs will be appointed soon.

Eric Schroeder

Eric Schroeder has been with UC Davis since 1984 and will retire in June 2014. Most recently he held the position of faculty director of UC Davis Quarter Abroad and UC Davis Summer Abroad and as an instructor in the University Writing Program. He has taught UC Davis Summer Abroad since 1988, offering courses in Scotland, Australia, and South Africa.

Robert Kerr

After 42 years with UC Davis, Bob Kerr will be retiring on July 31, 2014. He has held his current position as Assistant Vice Provost of Development at University Outreach and International Programs since 2000. From 1972 he has worked at UC Davis in student housing, student programs and recreation, coordinator of UC Davis 75th Anniversary year-long celebration, Development Officer, and Executive Director of the Cal Aggie Alumni Association.
