Vice Provost Welcome

Vice Provost and Associate Chancellor Welcome

VP Welcome

Whether you are a student, visiting scholar, faculty, staff member, alumni or supporter of our diverse UC Davis community, I am proud to start a new academic year with you.

The UC Davis community is engaged across the globe and our more than 150 international partnerships serve as bridges for connecting you with tremendous academic, research, and professional opportunities for sharing and collaborating. With each new academic year, it is exciting to see new prospects for domestic and international students to learn from one another, for researchers to collaborate across boundaries in pursuit of new discoveries and solutions for global challenges, and for all of us to discover different perspectives.

We are certainly faced with ever-evolving challenges, but we envision a UC Davis community that thrives in this increasingly interconnected world. And we are here to help—from providing seed grants for faculty research and offering revamped travel security resources, to participating in sponsored programs that bring international fellows and new knowledge to campus.

I encourage you to get involved with the initiatives of Global Affairs, ones that support global curiosity, understanding, and engagement. We offer academic programs and experiential learning across the world through Global Affairs units such as the Blum Center for Developing Economies and Study Abroad, as well as campus cultural events through units such as the Confucius Institute and Services for International Students and Scholars.

One of our latest initiatives, Global Education for All, aims to increase access to and the variety of global opportunities—here on campus, in the local communities, and abroad—so that 100% of UC Davis students can have an international and intercultural experience before graduation. I know firsthand the long-lasting benefits that come from opportunities like these, which is why I also stand behind UC President Napolitano and UC Davis Chancellor May in supporting our students from all backgrounds. I am proud to say that Global Education for All embodies this inclusive spirit.

I hope you will partner with all of us in Global Affairs on our bold journey in recognizing the importance of international education and in building the capacity, at all levels of the university, for intercultural competency. Best wishes for an exploratory and successful academic year!

Sincerely,

Joanna Regulska
