U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science Supplemental Funding

The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science (SC) encourages university principal investigators who currently receive financial assistance from SC to consider requesting supplemental funds to host or collaborate with students or scientists who the war in Ukraine has impacted.

UTFORSK Funding for Partnerships with Norway

Funding is available for joint bilateral or multilateral projects between higher education institutions in Norway, the United States, and eight other prioritized countries. Projects to be funded include joint educational activities, increased student mobility, including internships, integration of higher education and research and strengthening non-academic partners' involvement. Deadline: April 20

2023-24 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program Competition Now Open

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers awards for U.S. citizens to teach, research and conduct professional projects in more than 130 countries. The Fulbright website offers program detailsapplication guidance and other resources. Deadline: September 15

Achieving Sustainable and Inclusive Development: Emerging Issues in Research and Policy

April 11 Join the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor and Global Affairs for an in-person symposium to explore current challenges and approaches to achieving sustainable and inclusive development. The event will feature an introduction by Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Mary Croughan, UC Davis faculty experts Eric Chu from the Climate Adaptation Research Center, Woutrina Smith from the One Health Institute in the School of Veterinary Medicine and Kelly Kissock from the Energy and Efficiency Institute, and a keynote address by Dr. Mari Elka Pangestu, Ph.D. ’86, World Bank managing director of development policy and partnerships. Reception to follow. Register to attend.

Picnic Day

April 23 Join UC Davis as they celebrate the 108th Picnic Day with the theme of "Rediscovering Tomorrow." Visit the World Stage sponsored by Global Affairs in front of California Hall for performances from Manasa (FCBD(r)Style belly dance), California Standard, Brazilian Capoeira Angola Club of UC Davis, San Kazakgascar and Dog People.

Global Health Day 

May 7 A system-wide conference on global health that showcases the outstanding research, training and outreach across the University of California. The conference is in-person at UC Santa Cruz with a free virtual option. 

UC Davis Mondavi Center Announced 2021-22 Season, Including Several Global Works

UC Davis Global Affairs is a proud sponsor of the Mondavi Center’s 2021-22 season of performances running through May 2022. Among several global works are Las Cafeteras (April 28). Ticket discounts are available for current and retired UC Davis faculty and staff.

Announcements

COVID-19 Travel Advisory

Due to the current review of risks in regard to COVID-19, UC Davis has decided to end the requirement for all travel to CDC COVID level 3-4 countries to be approved before travel. As of March 21, 2022, the university has returned to its pre-COVID International Travel Policy. The Travel Security Manager will continue to monitor the COVID-19 rates closely and adjust the policy if necessary.

Travel Advisory: Ukraine and Russia

The U.S. State Department has issued a Level 4 — Do Not Travel Warning for Ukraine and Russia due to conflict. As a result, and out of concern for the well-being and safety of the UC community, the University of California Office of the President is directing all members of the UC community to avoid all travel to Ukraine and Russia at this time. Additionally, travel to neighboring countries should be carefully evaluated.

New Resources for Those Affected by Conflict in Ukraine

We continue to closely follow reports of the recent Russian invasion in Ukraine and support UC Davis students, scholars, faculty, staff, partners and international visitors from Ukraine and other regions affected by violence and conflicts. UC Davis students, faculty, staff, and scholars are encouraged to pursue the resources available and learn about how UC Davis continues to support our local and global community impacted by the crisis in Ukraine and other regions of the world.
