Apply to Teach a First-Year Seminar, Global Learning
First-Year Seminars allow instructors to explore their intellectual interests in a small class format while promoting intellectual exchange, critical thinking and community. Global Learning seminars allow students to explore cultural diversity and/or learn about global challenges and how they are addressed while developing awareness and critical thinking skills that will help them thrive in an interconnected world. Explore the program eligibility guidelines and contact Kate Andrup Stephensen at fys@ucdavis.edu for more information.

University of California GloCal Health Fellowship Program
The GloCal Health Fellowship provides aspiring global health researchers with outstanding interdisciplinary education and training in innovative research designed to improve the health of populations around the world. A career development fellowship sponsored by the National Institutes of Health Fogarty International Center, this program supports awarded fellows from all 10 UC campuses as well as 21 affiliated international sites across 17 countries. The University of California Global Health Institute manages and supports the GloCal Health Fellowship.

Global Energy Managers Workshop
November 3 Save the date for the UC Davis Global Energy Managers Workshop where facility managers, students and faculty from around the world meet to share best practices in campus energy management, carbon reduction strategies and community engagement. This year’s topic is Campus Decarbonization Planning and Execution: Accelerating the Clean Energy Transition.
2022 Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference
December 2 Save the date for the 7th Annual UC Davis Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference, hosted by the Center for Educational Effectiveness. This year's conference themes include diversity, equity and inclusion, research methods, active learning (student collaboration, student engagement methods) and teaching with technology. Conference presentation proposals are due by September 16.

University Global Coalition 2023 Annual Gathering
October 3, 4, 6, 7 The University Global Coalition's third annual virtual gathering seeks to empower individuals and universities to act upon the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Registration is open and free of charge.
Announcements
COVID-19 Travel Advisory
Due to the current review of risks in regard to COVID-19, UC Davis has decided to end the requirement for all travel to CDC COVID level 3-4 countries to be approved before travel. As of March 21, 2022, the university has returned to its pre-COVID International Travel Policy. The Travel Security Manager will continue to monitor the COVID-19 rates closely and adjust the policy if necessary.

UC Davis Grand Challenges
UC Davis Grand Challenges, the university’s transdisciplinary endeavor to address our planet’s most vexing issues, is moving forward rapidly. Their new website includes information about their programs and the first wave of Grand Challenges focus areas, which include sustainable food systems, reimagining the land grant university, climate crisis and emerging health threats.
UC Davis Chile: An Ally for Chilean Universities
Magdalena Vicuña, Rodrigo del Canto and Francisco Zamorano from the Universidad del Desarrollo in Chile share their experiences from their their visit to UC Davis as part of their collaboration with UC Davis Chile.
UC Davis Researcher Represents Early Career Scientists at 2022 Summit of the Americas
From June 6–10, representatives from 23 countries convened in Los Angeles for the Summit of the Americas, focusing on “Building a Sustainable, Resilient, and Equitable Future.” The summit brought together government leaders, civil society and social actors—including Paulina Carmona-Mora, a research scientist in the Department of Neurology at UC Davis Health.
Indonesian Consulates Visit UC Davis in Support of Students
This month, UC Davis welcomed Prasetyo Hadi, head of mission, Mahmudin Nur Al-Gozaly, consul for information and socio-cultural affairs, and Cindy Claudia German, socio-cultural officer, from the Consulate General of Indonesia in San Francisco to celebrate the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards participants and UC Davis’ collaboration with Indonesian universities.
UC Davis Signs Agreement of Cooperation with Tecnológico de Monterrey
The University of California, Davis and Tecnológico de Monterrey established a general institutional agreement of cooperation signed by Joanna Regulska, vice provost and dean of Global Affairs at UC Davis, and Manuel Zertuche, dean of the School of Engineering and Science at Tec de Monterrey, in a virtual ceremony on August 11, 2022.
