Member of the Independent Election Commission in Afghanistan
Abdul Hakim Murad is a Humphrey Fellow studying Environmental Management and Political Science. Mr. Murad holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Plant Science from Kabul University and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Preston University in Pakistan. Since 1981 he has worked for various Agricultural and Rural Development programs with the Government of Afghanistan, International Non-Governmental Organizations working in Afghanistan, and the United Nations. He worked as a Regional Coordinator of Central Region (Kabul & neighboring provinces) during the landmark Presidential Election in 2004. Appointed by the President of Afghanistan, he is currently a member of the Afghan Independent Election Commission at the national level. As a Humphrey Fellow, Mr. Murad will refine his skills in leadership, election planning, as well as environmental management. The Humphrey Fellowship will further advance his qualifications and experience in the area of his work and also bring opportunities to learn about election affairs in the United States.
