After hosting a virtual program in 2021, UC Davis enthusiastically welcomes our 2022 Mandela Washington Fellows in person this summer. Twenty-five young African leaders from 15 countries will participate in the six-week Leadership in Public Management Institute at UC Davis, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. This is the first Mandela Washington Fellowship cohort to join us on campus since the COVID-19 global pandemic began.
UC Davis is proud to announce its selection as an Institute Partner for the 2022 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. Beginning in mid-June, UC Davis will host 25 of Africa’s bright, emerging Public Management leaders for a six-week Leadership Institute, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State.
As part of the six-week 2021 Mandela Washington Fellowship, UC Davis Fellows participated in Ignite Talks, a series of three-to-five-minute speeches delivered by the Fellows regarding their specific professional projects, future plans, and inspirational advice they feel the world could benefit from.
From future policymakers to energy conversation scientists, this year’s Fellows were a diverse cohort coming from vastly different yet equally impressive backgrounds. They are eager to continue to engage with the UC Davis community, and with one another, to further make substantial global change. Let us introduce you to just a few of them!
