Dr. M. Cecilia Rodriguez Lanzi has a License in Nutrition from Maza University (Mendoza, Argentina). She completed her PhD in Biological Sciences at the National University of Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina in 2017. In the last years, she has been studying the beneficial effects of phenolic compounds, wieldy distribute in fruits and vegetables on obesity and overweight, especially focused in adipose tissue and muscles. She has several research works published about this topic and is looking for determinate strategies to prevent overweight and associated pathologies.

In this internship, she is studying the effects of a grape pomace extract (rich in phenolic compounds) and the main phenolic compounds present in this grape pomace on muscles, especially the effects on a myoquine knows as Irisin, that is able to produce “browning” of the adipose tissue, a novel strategy to prevent obesity.
