UC Davis has been named one of only four U.S. universities to receive NAFSA’s 2020 Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Campus Internationalization. This honor is bestowed annually to leading higher education institutions for excellence in internationalization efforts—both on campus and across the world.

The Chronicle of Higher Education announced that UC Davis is a “top producer” of Fulbright U.S. Scholars for the 2019-20 academic school year.

The University of California, Davis, is included on the list of U.S. colleges and universities that produced the most 2019-20 Fulbright U.S. Scholars, announced today by The Chronicle of Higher Education. UC Davis ranks among a list of the top 21 highest producers of Fulbright U.S. Scholars among doctoral institutions, with seven scholars from UC Davis earning Fulbright awards for 2019-20.

Steven Fennimore of the University of California, Davis, has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program award to work in Uruguay in agriculture.

During his time as a student writer for UC Davis Global Affairs, Rowan O’Connell-Gates gained credits for a professional writing minor.

Pam Ronald, a distinguished professor in the Department of Plant Pathology, will return to Sweden to receive an appointment as an honorary doctor of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, more than 30 years after receiving her first degree in Sweden, a Master of Science in physiological botany from Uppsala.

Former U.S. Ambassador and current Chair of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Jeffrey Bleich delivered the keynote address at the 2019 International Graduation Celebration, which also featured remarks from Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Ralph J. Hexter, Vice Provost and Associate Chancellor of Global Affairs Joanna Regulska, Director of Services for International Students and Scholars Wesley Young, and graduating managerial economics major Rannie (Langan) Zen.

This year’s 2018-19 UC Davis Humphrey Fellows volunteered in the community, traveled to Washington D.C. and various states for meetings at public and private agencies, gave class and community presentations, attended forums and conferences, and networked and collaborated with professionals. 

Shafat Sultan, from India, spent the 2013-14 academic year at UC Davis for professional development and collaboration through the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program at UC Davis. The following details memories of his time in the U.S. and at UC Davis. 

Ambassador Jeffrey Bleich, a lawyer, diplomat, and educator who currently serves as a special master in federal multi-district litigation and as Chair of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, will be the keynote speaker for the 2019 International Graduation Celebration at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Activities and Recreation Center (ARC) Pavilion.
