Global Tea Institute Call for Faculty Proposals
The UC Davis Global Tea Institute invites qualified senate and federation faculty to submit proposals to develop new academic courses on or related to tea. Proposals will be considered on a rolling basis for course buyouts beginning in Winter 2026.

Funding Fest 2025 Workshops

California Air Resources Board Pre-Proposal Solicitation Announcement
The California Air Resources Board seeks pre-proposals from CSU and UC academics for six sustainable transportation and community research projects emphasizing racial equity. Academics Without Borders USA
Academics Without Borders (AWB) supports faculty-driven projects that strengthen higher education institutions in low- and middle-income countries, fostering sustainable development through capacity-building initiatives. UC Davis faculty are encouraged to explore funding opportunities to collaborate with international partners and advance education worldwide.

International Gathering Urges Collaboration in Higher Ed
University leaders from around the globe gathered on campus May 7 to 9 to discuss existential threats facing higher education. “When the truth is under siege, the university must not flinch,” said Fanta Aw, executive director and CEO of NAFSA: Association of International Educators, and keynote speaker at the Annual Network Meeting and Presidential Symposium for Universitas 21, or U21.

U21 Relaunches Toolkit for Developing Virtual Collaborative Teaching
The U21 Toolkit for Developing Virtual Collaborative Teaching emerged from a collaborative project between UC Davis, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Tecnológico de Monterrey with participation from eight faculty and 250 students.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers over 400 awards in more than 135 countries for U.S. citizens to teach, conduct research and carry out professional projects around the world. The 2026-27 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Competition is now open.

REAL ID Act Enforcement Starts May 7, 2025
All U.S. travelers should be aware that the REAL ID Act is being enforced starting May 7, 2025. Travelers 18 and over will need a REAL ID-compliant license or another acceptable ID (Passport, etc.) to board commercial domestic flights and access federal facilities.
Merit and Promotion Guidance for Globally Engaged Scholars
In August 2023, the Academic Affairs “Annual Call” introduced an optional Statement of Contributions to Public and Global Impact that faculty can now include in their merit and promotion dossiers. The statement encourages candidates to “tell the story” of their public and/or global engagement in ways that reveal its full breadth and impact to the colleagues who will evaluate their accomplishments, especially when that impact may not be evident in MIV and the Candidate’s Statement alone.
