Bio
Pirjo Kristiina Virtanen is a Professor of Indigenous Studies at the University of Helsinki. She has carried out collaborative research in Southwestern Amazonia over 20 years. Since 2003 she has led research projects on Amazonian precolonial past and Indigenous future making. Her research interests include Indigenous knowledge, Indigenous research methodology, long-term human-environment interactions, its diverse temporalities, critical cultural heritage issues, and Indigenous research ethics.
