February 1, 2017: Academia Sinica Recruitment Event: A reception, introduction and recruitment event for Academia Sinica will take place Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the International Center, 3rd Floor Conference Room, 463 California Ave, Davis, CA 95616. Talent is being sought for the Academia Sinica Biotech Park in Taipei focusing on biomedical research/technology transfer, the Southern Branch of Academia Sinica in Tainan focusing on agricultural research and sustainable science.

Graduate students and postdoctoral fellows (NOT limited to talents from Taiwan) who are interested in knowing Academia Sinica and in exploring job opportunities at Academia Sinica in the near future.

The Chateaubriand Fellowship call for applications is now openhttp://www.chateaubriand-fellowship.org The Chateaubriand Fellowship is a grant offered by the Embassy of France in the United States. It supports outstanding Ph.D. students from American universities who wish to conduct research in France for a period ranging from 4 to 9 months. Applications are currently being sought for the 9th annual Faculty Fellowship program to be held in Israel, June 1 - 14, 2017:  Jewish National Fund together with Media Watch International is offering full time academics at a recognized university/learning institution, a fully-paid intensive program in Israel. The application deadline for the France-Berkeley Fund awards is January 31, 2017:  http://fbf.berkeley.edu/application-overview. Please note regarding the required campus match of up to $7,200 per award that the Office of Research (OR) will fund up to $3,600 per award if a like amount is funded by the dean.  We will provide advice to inquiries that the proposer contact the dean for his/her match and that the OR will provide the remainder. The OR portion of funding requires that the award recipient forward to Harris A. Lewin, Vice Chancellor for Research both the Interim Report and Final Report required by the France-Berkeley Fund.

Opportunity for international partnerships with the African Centers of Excellence, with funding available through the project to support the partnerships:  The World Bank has launched African Centers of Excellence inititive to strengthen the capacities of African universities to deliver high quality training and applied research, to promote regional specialization in areas that address specific common regional development challenges, and to meet the demand for skills required for Africa’s development. Phase 1 is being coordinated by the Association of African Universities (AAU) for the West and Central Africa: www.aau.org/ace. The AAU ACE project coordinator is Jonathan Mba - jcmba@aau.org. Academics Without Boarders-USA is currently accepting grant proposals for projects in international education, research and service: Institutions in developing countries are invited to submit a proposal identifying a high priority project for their college or university which can be carried out with the assistance of USA expertise (faculty or other professional volunteer).  AWB USA then recruits an appropriate volunteer(s) or endorses an already “named” volunteer and sponsors their travel to that country to assist with the project.  A typical project receives up to $5,000 from AWB USA to fund the volunteer(s) for travel-related expenses. To learn more visit, http://awbusa.org/submit-a-proposal.html Proposal deadline is February 1, 2017.
