Mpho Keatlholetswe holds a Global Master’s in development practice from the University of Botswana, and a Master’s of Science in environmental management from Auckland University, New Zealand. She has fifteen years of experience working for the Botswana public sector, where she worked for the Ministry of Land Management and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.
Over the past year, Ms. Keatlholetswe worked as national project manager for a Global Environment Facility (and United Nations Environment Programme-funded project aimed at developing Botswana’s technical capacities on the implementation, reporting and monitoring of multilateral environmental agreements and sustainable development goals (SDGs). She has also led the review of Botswana’s national strategy on environmental education (2023 – 2027) and the development of the national multilateral environmental agreements strategy (2023 – 2030).
As a Humphrey fellow, Ms. Keatlholetswe’s interests include environmental education, environmental funding and sustainable natural resource management with particular emphasis on engaging local communities and/or Indigenous people. During her Humphrey year, she wants to improve her skills in geographic information systems, the implementation of the SDGs and sustainable climate change adaptation methods.
