About Luis Miguel Sevilla Perez
President and Chairman of the Board – Fundación Futuro
Miguel has a multidisciplinary background in law, music, and entrepreneurship, combined with a deep passion for social service. He leads the non-profit Fundación Futuro with a transformative vision that integrates social development and environmental protection in the Andean Chocó, one of the world’s most biodiverse and conflict-prone regions.
He also serves on the board of the Grupo Futuro economic group and is Chairman of the Board at Metropolitan Touring, the leading tourism operator in Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands. He has played a key role in the creation and acquisition of new Grupo Futuro projects, such as Hortifrut Ecuador (blueberry plantations for export), Enercity (solar energy generation), and Itulpark (logistics).
During his Humphrey Fellowship at UC Davis, Miguel hopes to strengthen his leadership by learning from diverse peers and mentors while building meaningful connections across disciplines. He aims to engage with California’s clean energy and carbon market practices to support Ecuador’s energy transition, while also sharing his own experiences in governance, conservation, and business with others facing similar challenges.
Miguel holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in both law and music from Berklee College of Music (U.S.A.), Universidad San Francisco de Quito (Ecuador), Universidad Pompeu Fabra (Spain), and Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Spain). In addition to his professional work, he is also a musician and producer, and has performed as a keyboardist and saxophonist in over 500 concerts across 10 countries. He and his wife, Natalia, have two children. In addition to his passion for music, he also scuba dives and hikes.
