About Amon Kabango

Amon Ngasha Kabango has more than ten years of experience in forest landscape restoration, integrated catchment management, biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation, and mitigation.  He has a Master of Philosophy in Conservation Leadership from the University of Cambridge, a Master of Science in Environmental Sciences from the University of Tsukuba, and a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Malawi.  Amon is currently the principal forestry officer of Mangochi District Council, where he manages teams, finances, and the overall implementation of forest landscape restoration and biodiversity protection projects.  After finishing the Mandela Washington Fellowship, he hopes to apply his knowledge and skills to the effective implementation of ecosystem restoration and biodiversity conservation in Malawi, in accordance with the United Nations Decade for Ecosystem Restoration.
