Bio

Minky Groenewald has over six years’ experience in environmental management and climate change implementation and coordination. Having coordinated the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, she is now working for the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs on climate change coordination and administration to fulfill the objectives of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Swaziland. Minky has done considerable work in raising public awareness and on capacity building initiatives for multi-dimensional stakeholders on climate change issues. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Environmental Management at the University of Johannesburg and holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental Health Science. Minky is passionate about being an advocate for climate change and environmental protection and hopes to contribute towards her country achieving its sustainable development goals. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Minky plans to continue her work in raising public awareness and building capacity on climate change and environmental protection to build the county's adaptive capacity and enhance its resilience against environmental impacts.
