Bio

Akosua Owusu-Efaa is a civil engineer with more than eight years of experience in water supply, sanitation, environmental and social safeguards, procurement, project and contract management, and construction supervision. Akosua is an assistant civil engineer with the Volta River Authority, where she focuses on generation planning using the existing systems to meet the energy demands of Ghana. She is a professional member of the Ghana Institution of Engineering, and a co-founder of Endometriosis Awareness and Research Foundation Ghana, which empowers and supports women and girls affected by endometriosis. Akosua holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a master's degree in Environmental Management from the University of Western Australia. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, she plans to mentor young women and encourage their participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, which she considers key to addressing many challenges in Africa. She also intends to create a health and research institute with her foundation.
