Bio

I obtained my PhD in 2005 at Tampere University of Technology, Finland, specializing in Modern Energy Technology, with a dissertation Environmental Impacts of Superconducting Power Applications. While working as a Senior Advisor for the government of Finland in EU Ecodesign legislation, I was a post-doc at UCDavis Energy Efficiency Center in 2013-2014, comparing American Appliance Standards to Ecodesign and envisioned the proposed free trade agreement between EU and US with regards to harmonization of energy efficiency regulations. As an Adjunct Professor at Tampere University since 2018, I have pursued Zero-Energy Living, a new concept to study lifestyle changes needed to attain the objectives of zero-energy houses in reality. Technological change, along with a more energy-conscious lifestyle and education in construction and building maintenance professions are the keys. As a Fulbright Scholar, I'm studying and comparing these aspects of Zero-Energy Living at UC Davis.
