Mukusekwa "Muki" Nampokolwe holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree from La Universidad De Granma in Cuba and an Advanced Certificate in Tropical Veterinary Science from James Cook University in Australia. Nampokolwe has also taken short courses in Participatory Surveillance in Animal Health (APHIS – USA).
She is an experienced district veterinary officer with a demonstrated history of working in the veterinary industry for the past 14 years. Nampokolwe has worked with Private, Non-Profit and Government agencies in rural development and extension services. She works with both small and large animals and volunteers with Lusaka Animal Welfare by offering free spays and castrations. She has worked with the International Committee of the Red Cross in Nigeria and South Sudan as a Livestock Team Leader and is currently working as a District Veterinarian for the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock in Zambia.
Nampokolwe has led several livestock healthcare projects, including mass vaccination monitoring and evaluation, in collaboration with FAO, the World Bank, and GIZ.
As a 2024-25 Humphrey Fellow, Nampokolwe is dedicated to examining how livestock farmers are building resilience to climate stress, advancing food security, and applying sustainable agriculture and livestock management practices to address climate change, all within the framework of One Health.
