Mr. Bakhtadze is a founder and board member for the NGO Environment and Development. He is a professional geographer and an environmental and socio-economic specialist, who has worked for more than 10 years in the field. He studied at Tbilisi State University and holds his Master’s degree in Human Geography. His area of work covers South Caucasus countries: Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. As a manager, he led more then 40 projects and programs related to natural resources management (water, air, land, forest, and mineral resources) and socio-economic panning and development. Mr. Bakhtadze headed, and is one of the authors of, the Natural Disaster Risk Atlas for Georgia published in 2013. In 2014 the parliament of Georgia adopted the national forest policy concept, of which he was a contributor. He has been a member of IUCN ecosystem management commission since 2012.
