Global Affairs – Student Events and Programming Assistant
Seeking a student assistant for event planning and administrative duties related to the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, Fulbright Scholars Program and other Global Professional Programs. Projects may include assisting with planning and conducting signature Global Affairs events (e.g. International Education Week, Fulbright Scholar events, International Connections Reception, Picnic Day, faculty workshops, annual retreats), coordinating Global Affairs activities, events, and services with international students and scholars; promoting Global Professional Programs through events, welcome packets, and social media; taking photographs at events as needed; developing outreach materials (e.g. flyers, event announcements); and assisting with ad hoc projects as assigned. Services for International Students and Scholars – Student Clerical Assistant
This position will be responsible for accurately entering data provided by the department and for generating reports. The Student Assistant will be responsible for data entry in the Sunapsis database; helping to manage various alerts; compiling data from multiple sources, revising forms and flyers; preparing work authorization workshop materials and room set-up/tear down; assisting with student projects, mailing documents, and other duties as assigned. The Student Assistant assists with front reception desk coverage, including greeting and appropriately directing clients, answering phone calls, filing, and copying.

International and Academic English – Language and Culture Coach
Under the supervision and general direction of the Graduate Program Coordinator for International & Academic English, the IAE Language & Culture Coach’s primary responsibilities will include working one-on-one or in small groups with current and prospective International Teaching Assistants (ITAs) to help them develop the language skills and cultural knowledge they need to be effective TAs. The IAE Language and Culture Coach will also assist with the oral proficiency testing of ITAs by participating in the Test for Oral English Proficiency (TOEP). The expected start date is July 22, 2024. The first two weeks will include online training meetings, and on-campus work will begin in Summer Session II.

Student Writer or Writing Intern
In partnership with the University Writing Program, Global Affairs offers writing internships. Writing interns have opportunities to write and edit for a broad range of programming, events, and initiatives, working with the Global Affairs communications team, and faculty and staff across a comprehensive campus organization. Internship projects will vary from creating marketing copy for event programs and websites to writing and editing for student features, reports and publications. Projects will also include researching, interviewing and collaborating on student and international fellow stories, blogs and spotlights.

Global Affairs – Student Administrative Assistant
Seeking a student assistant for general clerical and analytical/research support as well as to assist with visiting international delegations, and trip planning. Projects will vary from developing partner university and country summaries to support trip or international visits, assembling welcome packets, scanning files into an EDMS (electronic document management system); responding to email inquiries, maintaining and updating several databases and spreadsheets, conducting individual research; and managing and assisting with ad hoc projects as assigned.
Global Affairs – Student Graphic Designer
Seeking a student graphic designer with opportunities to create designs for a broad range of programming, events, and initiatives, working with the Global Affairs communications and marketing team and faculty and staff across a comprehensive campus organization. Digital and print design projects will vary from being short-term to long-term and will include designs for flyers, posters, signage, web and digital banners, gifs, swag and giveaways, PowerPoints or other presentations, infographics, reports and publications, and social media posts.
Global Learning Hub – Experiential and Intercultural Programs Team Student Program Assistant
As an Experiential and Intercultural Programs Team Program Assistant, you will be a part of the Global Education for All initiative and the Global Learning Hub in providing support to a variety of programs focused on activities that enable students to engage in global learning. The Program Assistant will work with the Experiential and Intercultural Programs Team to provide support to all programmatic initiatives within the team. This is an opportunity to further develop your leadership, teamwork skills, intercultural engagement abilities, and organizational skills in a supportive, professional and fast-paced environment, while helping to make a difference on campus. This position offers 10 hours per week.

Global Affairs Article 26 Backpack Internship
Seeking an undergarduate student with training in Human Rights Studies to support the Article 26 Backpack – the UC Davis Tool for Universal Academic Mobility. Backpack, as we call it, is a multi-lingual ecosystem that empowers refugees, displaced, and at-risk young people around the world exercise their human right to education. This internship is an opportunity for students to practice Human Rights advocacy and make a real difference in the lives of more than three million refugee and displaced university students worldwide. Interns will be assigned to focus on digital/social media promotion strategy, Backpack guide educational materials development and/or Backpack digital and UX support.
Global Affairs – Student International Data and Special Projects Assistant
Under general supervision of the Associate Vice Provost of Academic Programs and Partnerships, students will provide events, programming, and administrative support for Global Affairs. Projects will vary, but will often require internet research and the compilation and synthesis of various forms of information. Student assistants should be motivated to complete projects with minimal oversight, have the ability to interpret instructions and information, and be willing to seek clarification and guidance whenever needed. Data projects will require familiarity with Excel, the ability to compile data from multiple sources, and a keen focus on detail. Events and programs may be planned virtually or in-person for the University as well as international and local communities.
Global Affairs – Global Partnerships Student Assistant
Under general supervision of the Associate Vice Provost of Academic Programs and Partnerships, provide events, programming, and administrative support for Global Affairs. With guidance from supervisors and independently, provide clerical and event support for international delegations, workshops, presentations and other events and projects organized within Global Affairs designed to further the mission of the organization and the vision of the Vice Provost and Dean. Events and programs may be planned, sometimes virtually, mostly in-person for the University as well as international and local communities.

Global Affairs – Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Internship
Seeking undergraduate students to actively contribute to campus engagement on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Responsibilities include liaising with students and student groups, supporting events, and collecting and organizing data. The internship will be offered virtually each quarter for two credits (6-8 hours/week).
SISS International Student Mentor
The Global Ambassador Mentorship Program is designed to welcome first year and transfer international students and help them successfully transition to life at UC Davis. This year-long internship for undergraduate students is a valuable opportunity to learn intercultural leadership skills, understand your role in a global community, and engage in cultural exchange. Mentors will be matched with incoming international students, participate in small group activities, and plan campus events.
