Mandela Fellows from the 2017 Mandela Washington Fellowship Show Appreciation for Global Affairs Staff

The second cohort of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Public Management Institute on Energy Policy sent a personal letter to the Global Affairs staff expressing their gratitude for the program and appreciation for the hard work that made the program not only a success, but also a memorable time. The letter ends with the signatures of all 25 fellows who participated in the 2017 Mandela Washington Fellowship at the University of California, Davis.

About the Mandela Washington Fellowship
UC Davis Global Affairs has welcomed young African leaders from the Mandela Washington Fellowship since 2016, when UC Davis was selected as one of 36 universities to host the program. The flagship program of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), the Mandela Washington Fellowship empowers young leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking opportunities.
The fellowship provides these outstanding young leaders with the opportunity to hone their skills at U.S. institution—such as UC Davis— with support for professional development after they return home. Institutes focus on leadership and skills development in one of three tracks: Business and Entrepreneurship, Civic Leadership, or Public Management.
