UCD Crowdfund to Help Threatened Scholars

UC Davis scholar, Pamir Hazem, shares the impact of Crowdfund UC Davis on his family's life. Fleeing to Pakistan and Rwanda after the Taliban invaded Afghanistan, Hazem was finally able to move to Davis thanks to the help of the Global Community Emergency Fund. When the Taliban took over Afghanistan, Pamir Hazem, a practicing attorney, was silenced and threatened. 

UC Davis School of Law Professor William S. Dodge and Associate Dean Beth Greenwood worked with former U.S. State Department officials to bring Hazem to UC Davis Law. Hazem and his family have relocated to Davis with the support of the Global Community Emergency Fund.  Last December, he joined the UC Davis School of Law student body to obtain his Juris Doctorate. 

“UC Davis saved my life and family,” said Hazem, a father of two and loving husband, said.
