In Memoriam: Daniel Padron

We are deeply saddened to share the loss of Daniel Padron, who passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 5th. A cherished member of the UC Davis community, Daniel dedicated 20 years as a scholar intake advisor with Global Affairs’ Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS).

Known for his passionate and caring spirit, Daniel touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. A proud UC Davis graduate and lifelong Aggie, Daniel was deeply committed to fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for international scholars. He thrived when working with over 100 UC Davis departments to provide excellent services and regularly expressed, “I’m just grateful to be a part of it.” Daniel often worked silently and behind the scenes, driven by doing his best and never expecting praise or reward. He stood firm in his commitments and goals, always staying true to his personal and professional values without compromise.

Daniel’s unwavering dedication and genuine care for others earned him the respect and affection of his colleagues. Whether lending a hand to a scholar in need, offering an empathetic ear, or sharing a laugh with a colleague, he had a remarkable ability to make them feel valued. Daniel wholeheartedly embodied the UC Davis spirit of inclusivity, connection, and community. His compassion and care were truly inspiring, leaving a legacy of kindness that will not be forgotten.

We extend our deepest condolences to Daniel’s family, friends, and colleagues during this heartbreaking time. His absence will be profoundly felt across the UC Davis community and beyond. As we remember Daniel, let us honor his legacy by supporting and uplifting one another, just as he did so selflessly.
