Regulska takes lead on shaping international education

Joanna Regulska, the vice provost and dean of Global Affairs at UC Davis, is among 23 international educators inducted this spring into the inaugural class of the National Academy for International Education, an honorary society and think tank charged with shaping the future of international education.

UC Davis Takes Top Spot for Diversity in National Rankings

The University of California, Davis, has taken top spot among universities in the nation for its inclusiveness, diversity and internationalization in rankings released today (May 5). In the second annual QS USA University Rankings, UC Davis ranked sixth overall among public universities (34th among all institutions) in the nation and fourth among public universities (seventh among all universities) in California. In the diversity and internationalization category, the campus tied for top spot with the private New York University; last year it also tied for first in the category with New York University and UCLA.

Global Affairs Vice Provost and Dean Joanna Regulska Inducted into National Academy for International Education’s Inaugural Class

Joanna Regulska, vice provost and dean of Global Affairs at UC Davis, has been named a founding member of the National Academy for International Education, as announced on March 22 by the Institute of International Education, or IIE. The first learned society of its kind, the National Academy for International Education is an honorary society and think tank made up of distinguished leaders from all over the world, including Australia, Canada, China, Ghana, Japan, Taiwan, and the U.S., among other countries.

2021 Chancellor’s Awardees Honored for Global Engagement at UC Davis and Around the World

The sixth annual UC Davis International Connections Reception, hosted by Global Affairs on March 4, brought together the UC Davis community in an online forum to celebrate several award and grants programs, including the 2021 Chancellor’s Awards for International Engagement presented by Chancellor Gary S. May. The awards recognize faculty and staff members for their outstanding international engagement in advancing the university’s teaching, research, and service missions, whether through leading global research projects, collaborating with colleagues around the world, promoting global learning or innovative pedagogy, or facilitating these activities to create positive change.

Leading Pediatric and Fetal Surgeon Diana Farmer Honored for Global Leadership

The sixth annual UC Davis International Connections Reception, hosted by Global Affairs on March 4, brought together faculty, staff, scholars, students, special guests, and supporters to celebrate UC Davis’ global achievements. During this year’s online awards ceremony, Chancellor Gary S. May recognized Diana Farmer, chair of the UC Davis Department of Surgery and surgeon-in-chief of UC Davis Children’s Hospital, for earning a 2020 U21 Award for Contribution to Internationalization in Higher Education. The U21 Award, given by the Universitas 21 network, celebrates individuals who demonstrate a true global vision in higher education, further effective international opportunities for students and staff, and improve collaboration within the university and with external partners.

2021 Global Affairs Seed Grant Projects Aim to Solve Global Challenges

The sixth annual International Connections Reception, hosted by Global Affairs on March 4, brought together the UC Davis community in an online forum to celebrate several award and grant programs, including the 2021 recipients of Global Affairs Seed Grants for International Activities. These grants are offered in partnership with the Office of Research and the individual colleges and schools to faculty taking on innovative research, service, and engagement projects around the world.

UC Davis Study Abroad Instructors Celebrated for Commitment to Students

On March 4, the sixth annual International Connections Reception, hosted by Global Affairs, brought together the UC Davis community in an online forum to celebrate globally engaged faculty, staff, and scholars. The event included the announcement of this year’s Academic Federation and Academic Senate honorees for the Excellence in Teaching in Study Abroad Awards, conferred jointly between the Academic Senate and Global Affairs.

UC Davis Ranked Among Best in World, Nation for Veterinary Science, Ag

The University of California, Davis, took top spots in veterinary science, and agriculture and forestry, according to the 2021 QS World University Rankings by Subject released today (March 3). In addition to being top-ranked in these two subjects for 2021, the university captured top 50 world rankings in seven other subjects and top 20 national rankings in eight.

Alumni Awards: Honoring 4 UC Davis Stars

The Cal Aggie Alumni Association, or CAAA, of the University of California, Davis, today (Feb. 23) announced the recipients of its 48th annual Alumni Awards, including Scot Marciel ’81 for the Emil M. Mrak International Award.
