Meet Luis Nieto, 2022-23 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow

What motivates you? "Currently, I am the Dean of the Faculty of Science at Universidad Luterana Salvadoreña, where I have been teaching law since 2008. I am sure that the program will allow me to strengthen my knowledge of environmental law and climate change, which will contribute to the growth of my academic institution and it will contribute to my students' training to become actors of social change to face El Salvador’s current environmental problems; this is my motivation."

Improving Patient Care in Ghana with Lessons from the Mandela Washington Fellowship

I am Marilyn Mawusi Azumah, a senior nursing officer at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Ghana. Health access and improving patient outcomes with better post-discharge care is my passion. My focus is to reduce the complications of non-communicable diseases. Thus, I was inspired to become a Mandela Washington Fellow to receive mentorship on creating sustainable solutions towards these goals. My experience with the program has been wonderful.

The Irony of Climate Change

As part of the Mandela Washington Fellowship Program, Fellows develop Ignite Talks, short and poignant speeches that spotlight issues facing their communities, their lives and the world. This is the Ignite Talk delivered by Daniel Oladoja (Nigeria, 2022), in his own words.

I am a harbinger of death!

A messenger of terror!

A prophet of doom!
