Faculty Funding and Short-Stay Opportunities
Explore a curated list of annual funding and short-stay opportunities available to UC Davis faculty. These opportunities are offered through partner institutions and select governmental funding agencies, and most require that proposals be submitted in collaboration with a co-PI based at a partner institution or at an institution in the respective country or region.
University of California Opportunities
2025 Call for Proposals for Latino Studies Projects
This initiative supports research focused on U.S. Latino communities and their relationships with Mexico in the context of contemporary binational relations. UC principal investigators are invited to submit proposals for up to $150,000 in seed funding for projects beginning no earlier than February 2026 and lasting up to 24 months.

Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship Programme
O.P. Jindal Global University invites applications for the fully-funded Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship—a one-month residency for Ph.D. scholars and early-career faculty under the age of 42. The fellowship offers global mentorship, interdisciplinary research, writing workshops, cultural immersion and academic networking.

KU Leuven Global Seed Fund
KU Leuven announces the second Global Seed Fund call to support international research collaboration. UC Davis is invited to apply for up to €30,000 per project. Projects begin January 2026.

Agriculture and Food Research Initiative Foundational and Applied Science Program
The AFRI Foundational and Applied Science Program funds research, education and extension projects across six agricultural priority areas. Open to various institutions and individuals, it offers grants ranging from $10,000 to $10 million.

Academics Without Borders USA
Academics Without Borders (AWB) supports faculty-driven projects that strengthen higher education institutions in low- and middle-income countries, fostering sustainable development through capacity-building initiatives. UC Davis faculty are encouraged to explore funding opportunities to collaborate with international partners and advance education worldwide.

Advancing Global Learning Through UC Davis Courses
Global Affairs announces the first recipients of the 2025 Peter and Marion London Global Learning Expansion Grant, supporting faculty in developing or enhancing innovative, globally engaged teaching that aligns with the UC Davis Global Learning Outcomes.
Alba Alfonso García Earns Young Researcher Award
Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering Alba Alfonso García earned the 2025 Young Researcher Award from The Erlangen Graduate School in Advanced Optical Technologies. The award supports the development of a first-of-its-kind optical imaging platform for early and non-invasive diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease and a collaboration with Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers over 400 awards in more than 135 countries for U.S. citizens to teach, conduct research and carry out professional projects around the world. The 2026-27 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Competition is now open.

REAL ID Act Enforcement Starts May 7, 2025
All U.S. travelers should be aware that the REAL ID Act is being enforced starting May 7, 2025. Travelers 18 and over need a REAL ID-compliant license or another acceptable ID (Passport, etc.) to board commercial domestic flights and access federal facilities.
Merit and Promotion Guidance for Globally Engaged Scholars
In August 2023, the Academic Affairs “Annual Call” introduced an optional Statement of Contributions to Public and Global Impact that faculty can now include in their merit and promotion dossiers. The statement encourages candidates to “tell the story” of their public and/or global engagement in ways that reveal its full breadth and impact to the colleagues who will evaluate their accomplishments, especially when that impact may not be evident in MIV and the Candidate’s Statement alone.
