Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that we are now accepting applications for the second cohort of the Curriculum Enhancement Through Global Learning program.

This faculty development program, set to run in fall 2019 and winter 2020, aims to engage faculty members in infusing global learning into the classroom, aligning with the campus goal of Global Education for All students.

Over the past year, 15 faculty from nine colleges, schools, and units worked together to adapt course content, instructional techniques, and learning outcomes to better equip students as they respond to global opportunities and challenges. We’re thrilled to already be seeing results, such as this virtual collaboration led by Graduate School of Management lecturer John Goldberg for College of Letters and Science students.

This year’s program will include monthly meetings from October to March to explore topics ranging from active learning to collaborative online learning and assessment. Participants will have opportunities for ongoing consultations regarding their syllabi and course activities, will be asked to serve as ambassadors for global learning on campus, and will receive a $1,000 honorarium upon successful completion of the program.

All full-time members of the Academic Senate and Federation who teach degree-seeking students, regardless of discipline, are encouraged to apply by June 30, 2019.

In an effort to bolster departmental impact, we are particularly interested in having colleagues from the same department work together in this program, so as you consider your application, please consider inviting a colleague to apply as well. All applications should be submitted individually with reference to potential partners in your department who are also applying.

Of course, it remains the responsibility of individual faculty members to ensure that any changes to course curricula are approved through appropriate academic and administrative channels.
