New Executive Director and Academic Director Appointed for UC Davis Chile Life Sciences Innovation Center

The UC Davis Chile Life Sciences Innovation Center (UC Davis Chile) within Global Affairs has appointed two new leaders: Lovell “Tu” Jarvis, a professor emeritus in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and the faculty director of Global Centers for Latin America and the Caribbean, has been named the center’s Executive Director, and Dario Cantu, associate professor of systems biology and Louis P. Martini Endowed chair in viticulture, has been named the center’s Academic Director.

Pam Ronald Returns to Sweden for Honorary Doctorate

Pam Ronald, a distinguished professor in the Department of Plant Pathology, will return to Sweden to receive an appointment as an honorary doctor of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, more than 30 years after receiving her first degree in Sweden, a Master of Science in physiological botany from Uppsala.

From Chinese Film to Housing Segregation, Graduate Fellows Explore the World

This year's graduate fellows in the College of Letters and Science come from a wide range of majors and are using the fellowships to explore diverse topics. Graduate fellowships support students in humanities, arts, and cultural studies programs to engage in research or creative projects over the summer. The $5,000 awards are supported by a bequest of Robert and Margrit Mondavi, the Dean of the College of Letters and Science and the Templeton Endowment for Arts and Letters.
