Global Affairs staff are returning to offices within the UC Davis International Center, located on the corner of Russell Boulevard and California Avenue. The International Center is now open. This fall quarter, Global Affairs teams will work in a hybrid format, offering limited in-person advising. Other services will be available in a virtual or hybrid format.

University of California, Davis in the US is encouraging Afghans to use its cloud-based Article 26 Backpack to safely store records and credentials. “Backpack is a way to safely curate, store and share all elements of an individual’s academic and career progress and preparation,” said Keith David Watenpaugh, professor and director, UC Davis Human Rights Studies, Article 26 Backpack.
In recent days, news of Afghanistan’s citizens in peril, a devastating earthquake in Haiti, destructive wildfires and the surging Delta variant has touched all of us in the UC Davis community, causing grief and sorrow for many. We have Haitian and Afghan families who are part of our larger community, as well as families who have suffered from the fires and COVID-19. I want to express my condolences to those who have experienced losses resulting from these tragedies. These events can be overwhelming, but I am grateful to see Aggies responding to support people in need, both here at home and a world away. Here are a few ways that is happening.

The UC Davis vice provost and dean of global affairs and professor of gender, sexuality, and women’s studies, Joanna Regulska, announced as one of the expert faculty members of the NAFSA Executive Internationalization Leadership e-Institute.
The two subjects of agricultural sciences and environmental science and engineering brought UC Davis its strongest showings in the 2021 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, released today (May 25) by the ShanghaiRanking Consultancy of China. UC Davis ranked sixth in the world in both subjects and first in the nation in both agricultural sciences and veterinary sciences. The campus was among more than 1,800 universities ranked in 54 subjects across the natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences.
On March 12, the National Academy for International Education was launched. The Academy includes Joanna Regulska, the UC Davis vice provost and dean of Global Affairs. Regulska has been advocating for global learning at UC Davis since September 2013.
