The 2020-21 UC Davis Global Education for All Fellows are working together and with others across and beyond UC Davis to advance Global Education for All, a campus goal aiming to provide 100% of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students with global learning opportunities that change their lives and our world. In addition to providing input into the Global Education for All Steering Committee work – such as future course development – the fellows are leading projects of their own based on their backgrounds and interests.
UC Davis Global Affairs will celebrate the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Action and Awareness Week, March 1-5, 2021, with a collection of events spotlighting UC Davis’ commitment to addressing global challenges through the SDGs, including a student event hosted on March 3 by Global Affairs SDG interns and students from Earth University in Costa Rica.
After completing her undergraduate and graduate degrees at UC Davis' College of Engineering, Nisha Marwaha accepted a job at the nonprofit WorldFish, based in Malaysia, to help improve fisheries and aquaculture. Aligning with its mission as a public, land-grant, and comprehensive research university, UC Davis is embarking on a ‘Voluntary University Review’ of its engagement with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, known as SDGs. Led by UC Davis Global Affairs, Office of Sustainability, and Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the process of developing the Voluntary University Review report will cover UC Davis’ education, research, service, and operations to measure UC Davis progress and inform future strategies in addressing the SDGs.
Conference Grants for SDGs will support UC Davis faculty, staff and student participation in important dialogues, facilitate global connections and collaborative relationships, and expand the visibility of campus efforts that promote the SDG Agenda. In line with UC Davis diversity and internationalization efforts, these grants are intended to highlight new voices, perspectives and experiences. Applications from underrepresented and underserved members of our community and projects that advance diversity are strongly encouraged.
The University of California, Davis’ World Food Center will co-host the virtual student summit 2021 of Universities Fighting World Hunger (UFWH) alongside the University of California Global Food Initiative and the Nutrition Policy Institute, University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources in partnership with the Hunger Solutions Institute at Auburn University. The summit’s theme is One Health. One Planet., and it will take place on March 25 and 26, 2021.
