About Immanuel Freeman

Immanuel Beaye Kwia Freeman is a project engineer at Liberia's Ministry of Public Works. With more than seven years of professional experience in public infrastructure, Immanuel has worked on projects ranging from roads and bridges to sanitary latrines and water kiosks. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Liberia and a master's degree in water supply engineering from IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands. Combining his passion for engineering and education, Immanuel is also a lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Liberia, a role that allows him to prepare the next generation of Liberian engineers. In addition, he mentors women in engineering through volunteer work with the Liberia Society of Women Engineers. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Immanuel plans to use geographic information systems technology to improve public infrastructure while also building partnerships that connect the University of Liberia's engineering programs to U.S.-based universities.
