Collins Obi has more than nine years of experience in the energy field and consulting experience in the private and public sectors. Currently, Collins is the head of financial performance management at Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), where he drives energy access initiatives and distributed renewable energy procurement processes; participates in fundraising efforts and conversations with potential investors and multilateral institutions; manages corporate financial and commercial performance; and leads strategic development and implementation initiatives. He also serves as project manager for the AEDC-Rocky Mountain Institute joint distributed renewable energy study funded by the United States Trade and Development Agency, which aims to improve energy access throughout Nigeria. Collins is passionate about deploying distributed renewable energy to power unserved rural communities and underserved locations. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the Federal University of Technology Owerri and a master's degree in business administration from the University of South Wales. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Collins plans to implement sustainable energy access projects that leverage renewable energy to efficiently power unserved and underserved communities across Africa.
