About Tala Kasapila

Talandila Kasapila has more than six years of experience in natural resources management, community engagement, and environmental social science research. Currently, he is a park manager for Lake Malawi National Park UNESCO World Heritage Site, where he focuses on environmental conservation education and community programs. He is also a Malawi national team of tourism trainer, a coach for the Mzuzu University Tourism Incubation Centre, and a member of the Japanese Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development Project in Malawi. Previously, Talandila worked as a research assistant with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ Malawi). He also volunteered with the initiative One Million Strong. Talandila holds a bachelor's degree in Natural Resources Management. He is committed to finding innovative solutions to address environmental sustainability challenges within a regional or global context. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, he aspires to have a more influential position within the public sector. Thus, he plans to further his studies and initiate research collaborations within transdisciplinary or integrated knowledge research to inform new policy directions for improved environmental governance of protected areas in Malawi and beyond.
