Beryl Birgitta Payet recently completed her master's degree in Engineering Business Management at the University of Warwick. She is currently the principal engineer in the policy and regulatory affairs section of the Department of Information Communication Technology, the Broadcasting and Telecommunications Regulator of Seychelles. Beryl is particularly passionate about achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls through ICT. She volunteers with SYAH-Seychelles, a youth-led non-governmental organization, where she has led numerous events to empower women and girls through coding and robotics and to encourage them to pursue careers in ICT. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Beryl plans to continue to help the development of Seychelles through her active involvement within engineering and to continue to empower the young generation in discovering the full potential of ICT in building a better Seychelles.
