Dr. Ga-as graduated with a Ph.D. in Horticulture from Central Mindanao University, Musuan, Bukidnon, Philippines. He has researched the comparative effects of organic supplementation with conventional fertilization on tomatoes, varietal selection and field adaptation of various horticultural crops. He has completed evaluation of different crop production technologies under different pedo-ecological zones. Dr. Ga-as was Dean of the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources of Caraga State University for three years before becoming Director of the Office for Resource Generation. Dr. Ga-as oversees various income generation activities at serving to augment the institution’s financial capacity. He comes to UC Davis as a Humphrey Fellow for capacity building on project development, proposal packaging and establishing linkages.
