As Nodal Officer, Mr. Mehta is responsible for the implementation of the NGO Environment Action Fund.  The fund supports the initiatives of NGOs and CBOs for mitigation of environmental problems as part of the overall strategy of decentralizing environmental management in India.  Among his accomplishments is the proposal for the community-based mangrove regeneration and management project on the coastline of Gujarat.  Mr. Mehta’s interests are environmental economics and market-based solutions to environmental problems.
