Mr. Cardona holds a BA in Finance and International Relations and an MSc in Public Administration and Public Policy. He has over eight years experience working experience in public policy at the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education, and Antioquia Governor’s Office. For last two years, he has worked on conservation finance, designing and implementing long-term financial vehicles to support protected areas in Colombia. As a Humphrey Fellow, Mr. Cardona intends to focus on economic valuation of ecosystems; specifically he would like to learn new methodologies to estimate financial feasibility of ecosystem services, such as payments for watershed protection and biodiversity conservation and carbon sequestration schemes. He also hopes to get involved in green business venture development in renewable energy, integrated water management, recycling and bio- business.
