Bio

Mr. Mekonnen holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Genetics and a Bachelor’s Degree in Plant Sciences from Addis Ababa University and Alemaya University, Ethiopia, respectively. He has nine years research experience in the field of crop genetics and breeding. He is responsible for managing plant genetic resources, which include crop germplam exploration, collection, characterization and evaluation of plant genetic resources for desirable traits like drought, pest and disease resistance, quality traits and restoration of landraces. Additionally, he has undertaken several research projects on crop genetics resource conservation and sustainable utilization.
