Deborah Mashala has more than five years of experience in the medical field. Currently, Deborah is a general practitioner at the Maternity of Kintambo, a public women's hospital in Kinshasa. She has also worked as an intern with public health organizations and has volunteered with teenage girls to educate them about menstrual health. Deborah holds a doctorate in medicine. She is passionate about building a stronger health system in the Democratic Republic of the Congo through good management skills. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Deborah plans to start a project focused on mother and child health and to pursue a master's degree in public health.
