Mrs. Varaschin is a planning expert for Instituto Cepa/SC, an agency linked to the Secretariat of Rural Development and Agriculture of Santa Catarina State. She holds a master's degree in production engineering from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and a bachelor's degree in economic. She also obtained her postgraduate diploma in theory and operation of a modern national economy from George Washington University. During her Humphrey year, Mrs. Varaschin plans to focus on developing small farms with an emphasis in enhancing the farmer's income and offering to them and their families services that will enable them to be more competitive while enriching their lives.
