Projects Connect Art and Science in Paris and Davis

Artists and scientists led by UC Davis College of Letters and Science faculty will merge their talents and techniques, both physical and mental, to challenge themselves during a weeklong symposium in Paris. The symposium, called Useful Fictions, “will create an unusual collision of minds,” said Jiayi Young, principal investigator and assistant professor of design.

Pam Ronald Returns to Sweden for Honorary Doctorate

Pam Ronald, a distinguished professor in the Department of Plant Pathology, will return to Sweden to receive an appointment as an honorary doctor of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, more than 30 years after receiving her first degree in Sweden, a Master of Science in physiological botany from Uppsala.

Former U.S. Ambassador and current Chair of the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Jeffrey Bleich delivered the keynote address at the 2019 International Graduation Celebration, which also featured remarks from Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Ralph J. Hexter, Vice Provost and Associate Chancellor of Global Affairs Joanna Regulska, Director of Services for International Students and Scholars Wesley Young, and graduating managerial economics major Rannie (Langan) Zen.

Chancellor’s Awardees, Study Abroad Instructors, Faculty Researchers Celebrated at International Connections Reception

For the third year, UC Davis honored those on campus advancing the research, teaching, and service mission of UC Davis through their international engagement with Chancellor’s Awards for International Engagement. The annual reception and awards ceremony also featured the announcement of the Academic Senate’s inaugural Excellence in Teaching in Study Abroad Awards for Academic Senate and Academic Federation members—which were followed by recognition of this year’s recipients of various Global Affairs grant and development programs.
