The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) wrapped up the 26th annual Presidents’ Meeting held at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore on July 9, 2022. UC Davis Chancellor Gary May, accompanied by Global Affairs Vice Provost and Dean Joanna Regulska, represented UC Davis as a member university. As a network of leading universities linking the Americas, Asia, and Australasia, APRU brings together thought leaders, researchers and policy-makers to exchange ideas and collaborate on practical solutions to the challenges of the 21st century.

With the support of the Mastercard Foundation, UC Davis, in collaboration with the Rwandan-based educational NGO, Kepler, has embarked on a project to learn how the UC Davis Article 26 Backpack can help empower refugees to overcome those barriers in Rwanda and elsewhere in Sub-Saharan Africa. Developed in 2018, Article 26 Backpack is a joint project of UC Human Rights Studies and UC Davis Global Affairs. The multi-lingual tool keeps critical academic and other documents safe, fosters educational and employment mobility, and builds solidarity across different refugee communities through its secure sharing capabilities.
UC Davis and Osaka University (OU) held a virtual symposium on September 15, 2022 to discuss sustainable cities, energy research and global collaboration. With 37 staff members and researchers present, both university communities were eager to begin sharing ideas and opinions on future research on sustainable cities.
In June 2020, Universitas 21 (U21) named UC Davis among the winners of its inaugural Global Education Enhancement Fund. Through this grant, UC Davis partnered with Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China and Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico to create a framework for teaching the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Global Classroom modules.
