UC Davis Postpones Humphrey Fellowship Program Due to COVID-19

Dear friends of UC Davis Humphrey Fellowship Program,

We regret to inform you that unfortunately, we are unable to host the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program in the 2020-21 academic year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to comply with local county and state regulations as well as UC Davis guidelines, all international programs involving visitors from abroad are postponed. The health and wellbeing of our fellows, members of our campus, and local community is our top priority.

The Humphrey Fellowship Program is a valued and important program at UC Davis. Like you, we cherish welcoming and collaborating with leaders from all over the world. Since 1986, UC Davis has hosted more than 300 Humphrey Fellows from more than 100 countries. Although we are saddened and disappointed to not have the opportunity to host a cohort this year, UC Davis has every intention to resume in-person hosting of the fellowship program for 2021-22 and years to follow.

At this time, UC Davis Humphrey Fellows for 2020-21 are working with the fellowship program and local commissions to either defer until next year or potentially attend another Humphrey host campus this year. As we plan for the next academic year here at UC Davis, we look forward to connecting with our campus and community program partners. If you have questions about this news or the UC Davis Humphrey Fellowship program, please contact director Karen Beardsley at kbeardsley@ucdavis.edu or associate director Nikki Grey Rutamu at ngreyrutamu@ucdavis.edu.

Thank you for your continued support.

Best wishes,
