Peter and Marion London Global Learning Innovation Award
The Peter and Marion London Global Learning Innovation Award supports an annual project led by one or more UC Davis students who partner with Nepali and/or Tibetan students on a project with a strong public benefit related to sustainable development for disadvantaged communities. Up to $4,500.

Norma J. Lang Prize for Undergraduate Information Research
The application period for the UC Davis Library’s eighth undergraduate information research prize is now open. The Lang Prize recognizes students who make exceptional use of library resources, services or expertise for a class project. Please share this opportunity with students who merit recognition for the quality of their information research during spring 2023, summer 2023, fall 2023 and winter 2024.

Apply to Teach a First-Year Seminar, Global Learning
First-Year Seminars allow instructors to explore their intellectual interests in a small class format while promoting intellectual exchange, critical thinking and community. Global Learning seminars enable students to explore cultural diversity and learn about global challenges and how they are addressed while developing awareness and critical thinking skills that will help them thrive in an interconnected world. The instructor of record is eligible for an academic enrichment fund allocation of $2,500 for a one-unit course, $3,000 for two units. UC Alianza MX Call for Proposals: Strategic Research Projects 2024-26
UC Alianza MX announces a call for proposals for Strategic Research Projects on a two-year cycle beginning in summer/fall 2024 and ending in summer/fall 2026. Strategic Research Projects use academic insights to engage non-academic stakeholders on an issue (or issues) of strategic importance to Mexico or its bilateral relationships with California and the United States.

UTFORSK: Funding Opportunities for Joint Projects Between Norway and the U.S.
The Norwegian Embassy in Washington D.C. is pleased to introduce a new call for joint projects between higher education institutions that engage in bilateral cooperation (Norway-U.S.) or multilateral cooperation involving a partner in Norway and the U.S. as well as one or more of the other eligible countries (Brazil, Canada, China, India, Japan, South Africa and South Korea). The program is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research.

NSF Dear Colleague Letter: Research Collaboration Opportunity in Europe for NSF Recipients
Current NSF recipients are invited to submit supplemental funding requests for research visits to any identified, appropriate European Research Council-funded European research group. Requests must be received at NSF at least three months prior to the proposed visit, but no later than May 17, 2024, for consideration using fiscal year 2024 funds.

Workshop–Dialogues Across Difference: Solutions to Disruptive Speech in the Learning Environment
March 5, 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Student Community Center, Multipurpose Room
Join Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for an afternoon workshop on “Dialogues Across Difference,” which seeks to facilitate communication across diverse viewpoints in the classroom. The event will feature innovative performances by UC Davis students to demonstrate scenarios featuring challenging and disruptive speech. Faculty from the law school will discuss Academic Freedom and the First Amendment in our classrooms, and small group discussions will focus on maintaining the exchange of diverse ideas. Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program
This program provides grants to support overseas projects in training, research and curriculum development in modern foreign languages and area studies for teachers, students and faculty engaged in a common endeavor. Projects may include short-term seminars, curriculum development, group research or study or advanced intensive language programs.

Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program Information Session
April 16, 2024, 12 – 1:30 p.m., 3119 International Center and Zoom
Join UC Davis Global Affairs and the Institute of International Education (IIE) for an information session about the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program. You will learn what is possible with Fulbright and hear about this year’s updates and priorities. Fulbright U.S. Scholar Awards give opportunities to U.S. citizens to teach, research, and carry out professional projects around the world. The information session will explore awards open to applicants in the Fulbright U.S. Scholar competition for the 2025-26 academic year. IIE staff will present offerings across all world regions, provide tips on how to craft a competitive application and provide information about the selection process. Lunch will be provided for participants attending in person. Register to attend in-person or online.
Global Challenges Teaching Award
Applications are now open for the Fulbright US-UK Global Challenges Teaching Awards, supported by AAC&U in partnership with the US-UK Fulbright Commission. This award will foster and support new transatlantic Virtual Exchange/Collaborative Online International Learning partnerships aimed at tackling four specific global challenges: racial justice, inequality, climate change, polarization and division. Faculty from any discipline teaching undergraduate students at an accredited U.S. or United Kingdom higher education institution are eligible to apply.

A Backpack to Help Refugees
This month’s guest on Face to Face With Chancellor May is Dheera Dusanapudi, the student lead for the Article 26 Backpack, a program that offers refugees face-to-face counseling and a cloud storage platform to preserve important records like transcripts and diplomas.
