Supporting a Community of Students and Scholars
From ensuring some of the world's brightest international students and scholars have the opportunity to study, research or teach at UC Davis to providing community programming, Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS) helps California and UC Davis become a home away from home for our more than 8,000 international students and more than 2,000 international scholars coming from well over 100 countries.
In addition to welcoming, guiding, and orienting new international students and scholars, we provide ongoing support through expert advising and regular programming—aiming to provide our students and scholars with both a sense of place and sense of self through orientations, events and programming that create community, introduce new cultures and develop skills.
SISS programming, which is often open to the campus community, is also an opportunity for the university community to engage in important intercultural experiences and dialogues.

Services for International Students
In addition to ensuring international students obtain and maintain the appropriate legal status and employment authorization, Services for International Students and Scholars provides consistent international student advising and orientations to integrate students into the UC Davis and greater community.
Services for International Scholars and Host Departments
We support the community of international scholars—which includes short-term visiting scholars and postdoctoral scholars as well as full-time career researchers and faculty—and academic departments with government regulations to bring international scholars here to conduct research and teach at UC Davis.
Programs for the International Community
Beyond welcoming international students and scholars to the U.S. and to UC Davis, Services for International Students and Scholars offers ongoing orientations, community events, intercultural programs—and opportunities for the entire community to engage with people from all backgrounds right here on campus.
Global Ambassador Mentorship Program
The Global Ambassador Mentorship Program is designed to help new first-year and transfer international undergraduate students successfully adjust to life at UC Davis. We match new international students with current students based on similar academic and social interests to connect them with a community of support and friends.
