In memory of plant biochemist Eric Conn (1923-2017), a fun and lively rivalry between biochemistry students at UC Davis and University College Dublin, Ireland will launch in February 2021. Eric Conn was a UC Davis professor of molecular and cellular biology as well as a distinguished member of the National Academy of Sciences. The rivalry will be called “UCD vs. UCD Biochemistry Games” and will begin with the Eric Conn Biochemistry Quizzes to determine the UC Davis student participants. Walter Leal, a UC Davis distinguished professor of molecular and cellular biology and a former chair of the department of entomology and nematology is organzing the games.
