Learn more about Collins

Economic development and shared prosperity for developing economies like Nigeria may not be achieved without solving the prevalent energy poverty and accessibility problems. I wish to contribute to global policies and programs that can serve as a solution to these issues. Hence, my passion for the energy industry these past years has been leading various project development efforts that cut across embedded generation, inter-connected mini-grid and specialized energy solutions.

What drew you to your professional field?

Having experienced poverty firsthand growing up in Lagos, Nigeria, and understanding the limitations it brings to human development, quality of life, and advancement; I have an unapologetic passion for causes that seek to improve lives and promote economic development and prosperity. Clean energy access is the key to unlocking economic development and bettering the lives of sub-Saharan Africans. As a result, my passion resides within this space.

What is something from your country that you would like to share with the UC Davis community?

I am proudly a Nigerian and would love to share that Nigeria is beautiful, like its diverse people from various religious, cultural, political, and ethnic backgrounds; and is the most populous Black country on the continent. I would like to share our jovial, friendly and easy-going nature, including my culture, clothing, language, and music with the UC Davis community.

How would you like to engage with UC Davis and the community here?

I look forward to my time at UC Davis as a period where I will learn from colleagues and peers in the community; collaborate with the University teams, partners and affiliate institutions; solidify key networks, relationships and contacts; take on more responsibilities; and explore innovative solutions and subsequently impact lives when I return to Africa.
