In conjunction with its centennial this year, the Institute for International Education established the Senior International Officer Award — and last week presented it to Joanna Regulska, vice provost and associate chancellor of Global Affairs.

A UC Davis team of five international undergraduate students has earned a spot in the finals at the 29th Annual Institute of Food Technologists Student Association (IFTSA) Product Development Competition with their Oakaranchi Crackers - a nutrient-packed cracker made from okara, the soy pulp by-product of soybean processing.

Dana Armstrong, an international agricultural development graduate student, and Peter Nasielski, a design and sustainable environmental design undergraduate student, met 2017-18 UC Davis Humphrey Fellow Martin Kailie, a farmer, social entrepreneur, and founder and CEO of Green Africa Inc., at UC Davis before teaming up on a research project in Kailie's home country of Sierra Leone.

Joanna Regulska, vice provost and associate chancellor of Global Affairs at the University of California, Davis, has been honored as the first-ever recipient of the Senior International Officer (SIO) Award from the Institute of International Education (IIE). The award, which was presented to Regulska in Washington, D.C. on May 29 by IIE President and CEO Allan E. Goodman, is reserved for SIOs showing leadership across the spectrum of international education, while developing cohesive strategies, driving innovation, advancing impact, and fostering relationships.

Global academic projects and internships, study abroad, and international research do more than help you to reach your academic goals. They also broaden your horizons through exposure to hands-on experiences and new cultures in diverse settings. At UC Davis, students are gaining skills and partnering with collaborators in all corners of the world.

UC Davis has announced it will launch a Global Learning Hub in Fall 2019 to help with its ambitious goal of providing all UC Davis students with international and intercultural learning experiences before graduation.

Through its newly launched Curriculum Enhancement Through Global Learning program, Global Affairs offers a professional learning opportunity for faculty looking to ensure their course content and teaching is preparing students to become global citizens. The program sparked a virtual classroom collaboration for one such faculty member.

Call for Proposals: Campus Global Theme

The 2020-21 call for mini-grant proposals for the inaugural Campus Global Theme program is now open. UC Davis’ first Campus Global Theme: Food for Thought: Feeding Ourselves, Feeding the Planet, roots itself in the strengths of the institution to call for programs that can help our community reflect on the work of nourishing our world.
